A Journal Workshop Exploring the Narrative of Our Lives
with Marcia Wakeland and Helen Cepero
August 9 – 12 |
Through literature and film, participants will practice the art of dialogue journaling.
Whether or not you have kept a journal before, this creative pathway is easily learned
and accesses a part of your inner knowing in a delightful and surprising way. We will suggest many
alternative ways of 'dialogue journaling' that will connect our stories to the larger Story.
Experience a rhythm in this retreat of listening to the written word, watching films,
journal writing and reflecting. Enjoy a safe and supportive environment where all
are encouraged to create from their true selves.
Marcia Wakeland is a spiritual director, retreat leader, Lutheran pastor and director of The Listening Post of Anchorage. She has a collection of 69 of her own journals and loves exploring this way of accessing the wisdom, creativity and surprise of the inner voice.
Helen Cepero is an ordained pastor of the First Covenant Church, spiritual director, teacher and retreat leader. She has authored the book Journaling as a Spiritual Practice: Encountering God through Attentive Writing. Helen also coaches students with online journaling practices. She volunteers at the Listening Post in Anchorage, and is on the staff of three spiritual formation programs. www.helencepero.net/
Both Helen and Marcia live in Anchorage, Alaska with their spouses, and are mothers of adult children.
